Motics can suggest clinical codes from the transcript of a session. Each code shows the words from the transcript that support it. You review every code. Motics does not accept a code for you.
Note: Clinical coding is in Beta. The suggestions are AI-generated. Always check each code before you use it.
Before you start
The session must have a completed transcript. If it does not, the Coding tab shows No transcript available.
Generate codes for the first time
Open the session.
Select the Coding tab.
Select Choose a profile.
In Choose a coding profile, select a profile. Each profile shows its code system and version.
Select Generate followed by the profile name. For example, Generate with the name of your profile.
Motics shows Generating followed by the profile name while it works. A spinner also shows on the Coding tab. When the codes are ready, each profile you generated has its own tab in the panel.
Note: Motics generates only the profile that you select. To get codes from a different profile, generate that profile too.
Review the codes
Each code shows the code, its description, its status and a confidence indicator. Hover over the dots to see the confidence as a percentage.
Read the code and its description.
To see the supporting words, select the arrow on the right of the code.
To check the words in context, select the quote. Motics opens the transcript at that point.
To accept the code, select the tick. The tooltip is Accept.
To reject the code, select the cross. The tooltip is Reject.
The status changes to Accepted or Rejected. Rejected codes show in grey. The Coding tab shows the number of accepted codes.
To change your decision, select the undo arrow. The tooltip is Undo. The code goes back to Suggested.
To copy a code, select the code button. Motics copies the code to your clipboard.
Generate new codes for a profile
Caution: New codes replace the codes that show now for that profile. Your old codes and their review status stay in the generation history.
In the Coding tab, select Generate codes.
In Choose a coding profile, select the profile. The list shows Generated or Not generated for each profile.
Select Generate followed by the profile name.
Read the message Regenerate followed by the profile name and codes?.
Select Regenerate.
Your current codes stay on the screen until the new codes are ready. If generation fails, nothing changes.
If something goes wrong
You see "Transcript changed after this generation". The transcript changed after Motics made the codes. Check each quote against the current transcript before you use the codes.
You see "The quote cannot be highlighted in the transcript". The transcript changed or is not available. Read the quote in the code card instead.
You see "Clinical codes could not be generated". Nothing in the session changed. Select Try again.
You see "New codes could not be generated. Your existing codes are unchanged." Select Try again, or select the cross to dismiss the message.
You see "No suggestions generated". Motics found no codes for this profile in the transcript.
You see "The review state could not be updated. Try again." Select Accept or Reject again.
The generate buttons do not work. Hover over the button. If you see "Code generation is temporarily unavailable. Please try again shortly.", wait and try again.
You see "Clinical coding not available". Try again later. If the problem continues, contact us in the chat.
